So so so I have a really bad habit of not commenting on people's pictures even when I follow them and like the pictures and want to. And GUESS WHAT THIS IS MY FAVORITE ONE SO I'MMA REVERSE SPAM YOU WITH ABSOLUTELY ZERO MERCY! 8D
First of all, the stuble hexagon textures in the back are done so well. It looks like real goldleaf, an effect that I haven't been able to pull of correctly. Ever. And I've tried! Many times! To no avail. Something you really excel in is organized chaos when it comes to textures. The clutter on the outskirts of the picture are really well-placed, so that we can enjoy every detail as we go in. This brings a lot more attention to the main figure of the piece who, being considerably less cluttered but just as detailed, is easily the focal point of it all. Being able to handle organized chaos so well is a super important skill.
Something I really envy about you is your ability to put forth high-contrast colors. I want to and I try to but somehow it just isn't in me. My eyes hurt. My brain won't put it together. It's like I'm scared to touch it for some reason. One of these days, I will uncover your secrets. > w>

I'll probably have time after that, so chances are I will be able to do stuff this summer. I really ought to look for a job. asd;lkgj BEING AN ADULT IS REALLY HARD. But likely end of spring/beginning of summer will be when I have time to do a trade.
... or a collab ohgawd... what happens if we use the same line art, mirror it, and put them side by side... then have one person color one half and the other person color the other half? O_________O
You probably thought his pose looked wrong because his body is suspended in a dynamic position. Of course, it would be really uncomfortable to hold a pose like that but realize that it's only to show a few moments before they draw out their sword and possibly slash someone with it.
Try it yourself. Pretend you're running/lunging towards someone and you're going to slash someone with a katana with all your might. Wouldn't you have to twist your body the same way as the character?
I've decided to show this rough sketch to you to show the circular motion of the character's movement. sta.sh/01fgmploeblt
Things may have looked out of place according to your perspective but what I drew actually gave movement and flow.
Also, I admit I may have used oversaturated colors on this one but if your eyes are intolerant to my color selections, then perhaps you should tone down the brightness of your computer srceen and you should be able to adjust : )
